Lost and found
In a jungle of mayhem I lost myself.
Feathers ruffled, eyes groggy
and feet pressing on the ground.
In fear and sorrow my head hung low.
I was hooked and bound.
In hope, I hopped up and down.
A long worm wriggles beneath my blurred sight,
but I am in a big plight of my own.
A salamander crawls almost mockingly,
near my webbed pink feet.
But my beak is whet,
and I slay him straight.
The twine loses its grip
and I cackle in delight.
All I did was try,
for food and life,
to feed my children,
and soothe their cries.
I am now free.
In a jungle of mayhem, I've finally found myself.
